Secrets of the East Harlem Waterfront Tour - Join EsplanadeFriends Board Chair Jennifer Ratner for the annual citywide “Jane’s Walk” sponsored by the Municipal Arts Society in honor of urban planner Jane Jacobs. This year Ms. Ratner will be serving as our guide through the lens of art and history to share little known facts and tales of the East Harlem Waterfront. Meet at 96 St and the East River Esplanade Waterfront and walk northbound.

Make Music New York

Join us at the Alice Aycock Pavilion for Make Music New York Festival! A free open house event for all ages. Our line up for the day includes:

3 - 4 pm - Liz Hogg - Guitarist and Composer

5 - 6 pm - The Tomtown Ramblers - A bluegrass collective

6:30 - 7:30 pm - Sound Bridges and Percussive Dance - A blend of west African music with jazz and tap dance

Newyorkina will provide cool and fruity paletitas and The Craft Studio will have a kids make-your-own musical instrument to join in on the fun. Quantities are limited. Bring your own water, sunscreen, and lawn blanket. Social distancing rules will be followed.

Youth Fishing Clinic

Saturday, May 15 - Youth Fishing Clinic in East Harlem brought to you by EsplanadeFriends and made possible by Sea Grant. We will provide fishing rods, bait, instructors, and fun!

Choose one time slot to learn how to fish:

  • 10 am - 10:50 am

  • 11 am - 11:50 am

Limited to 10 participants per time slot, children under 14 are required to attend with a parent. Fishing rods will be provided to participants 14 years old and older. Participants younger than 14 must have an adult who is responsible for the rod. Each participant needs to register regardless of whether or not they are fishing.
